NHS Health Check

The NHS Health check programme assesses your risk of developing health problems such as heart disease, stroke, diabetes and kidney disease.

It is a free national assessment programme for people aged between 40-74 who have not already been diagnosed with heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, chronic kidney disease, stroke, mini stroke, irregular heart beat, raised cholesterol or peripheral arterial disease.

By taking early action there is good evidence to show that you can prevent the onset of these conditions.

The check takes about 30 minutes and is based on straightforward questions and measurements such as height, weight, blood pressure and family history. There will also be a simple finger prick blood test to measure your cholesterol.

Following the check, you will recieve a personalised action plan on what you can do to stay healthy.
