For those patients who pay for their prescriptions, please note that prescription charges will increase to £9.00 per item from 1st April 2019. If you need four or more prescriptions in three months or at least 12 prescriptions a year, it is cheaper for you to apply for a pre-payment certificate which cost £104:00 for 12 months or £29:10 for 3 months: these can be paid for in full or in instalments by direct debit. Please ask at the dispensary for more information about prepayment certificates, look online at www.nhsbsa.nhs.uk/ppc or call 0300 330 1341.
Dispensary Phone Line
Please note that for safety reasons, from 1st April 2019 you will no longer be able to order medication through the dispensary phone line. Patients should request medication using one of the following methods:
- A week or two before you need medication, leave your repeat slip at the shop where you collect your medication, or at the surgery.
- Order on line: ask us for information on how to do this.
If you have a query and do need to speak to the dispensary, please call reception and ask for a call back. You will not be able to speak immediately to a dispenser but the dispensary will call you the same day. Be aware that this is not an order line.

Qualified Dispenser Vacancy
Due to promotion, Cerne Abbas Surgery are now seeking to appoint a qualified dispenser to work part time at the surgery. For more information and a discussion about the role contact Jo, our dispensary manager.
Getting the Results of Tests Organised by the Hospital
Sometimes you may have investigations that have been arranged by hospital consultants. The results from these tests do not automatically get forwarded onto the surgery.
If you want to know the result of a test you have had under the care of a consultant please phone the hospital and ask to speak to your consultant’s secretary.

Ear Syringing – Changes
In line with national guidance we are changing our policy on ear syringing.
Our patients are advised to oil for 14 days and if their ears are still blocked to book an appointment with a nurse, who will see whether they require syringing.
